Carlstadt, New Jersey is a borough in Bergen County. Initially organized as a village in Lodi Township in 1860, the community was named for Dr. Carl Klein, a prominent early settler. Carlstadt was incorporated as a borough in 1894, at which time it separated from Bergen Township. Carlstadt is bordered by East Rutherford on the south, Secaucus and North Bergen on the north, Wood-Ridge and Moonachie on the east, Ridgefield and South Hackensack on the east, and Wallington on the northwest.
