Fredon Township is in Sussex County, New Jersey. Originally, after Isaac V. Coursen established a post office in his store in 1800, the settlement was known as Coursen’s Corners, but was changed to Fredon Village in 1855, and incorporated as a township in 1904. Fredon is bordered by Hampton and Stillwater townships on the northwest, along which the railroad ran, now a non-motorized trail that is part of Kittatinny Valley State Park.
