Independence Township is located in the eastern region of the Lehigh Valley of Warren County, New Jersey. The township was created in 1782, and was one of the state's original townships in 1798. Great Meadows and Vienna are unincorporated places within the township, grouped together as Great Meadows-Vienna for census purposes.
