Originally formed as a town in 1870, Keyport, in Monmouth County, New Jersey, was incorporated as a borough in 1908. Keyport is bordered by the borough of Union Beach, Aberdeen Township, and Hazlet Township. Keyport was known for its oyster industry until it collapsed in the mid-20th century, and efforts to recreate the oyster reefs in Raritan Bay were suspended.
