Established through a King’s grant in 1663, Little Silver was settled in 1667, and incorporated by the New Jersey Legislature as a borough in 1923. Its original settlers were primarily farmers and fishermen. The original farms and nurseries have been mostly replaced by housing today, as the borough’s location along the Shrewsbury River makes it a popular place for boaters and other water sports enthusiasts. Little Silver is south of Fair Haven and southeast of Red Bank.
