Incorporated in 1923, Mine Hill Township is a residential community in northwestern Morris County, New Jersey. Its history goes back to the early 18th century, and its development was connected to the rich sources of iron ore that were found in the area. The Dickerson Mine, owned by Mahlon Dickerson, New Jersey’s 12th governor, was the largest ore mine in the township, supplying a great deal of the ore that was used during the Revolutionary War. That mine was open until the late 1960s.
