Pilesgrove, in Salem County, was incorporated as one of New Jersey’s original townships in 1798, although Pile’s Grove was mentioned in a deed dated 1701. The township is bordered by Alloway Township, Carneys Point Township, Mannington Township, Oldmans Township, and Upper Pittsgrove Township, as well as Gloucester County. Woodstown is an independent borough situated within the boundaries of Pilesgrove Township.
