In 1703, prior to its incorporation, the Morgan Inn was established in what is now the Morgan neighborhood of Sayreville. Active in the Revolutionary War, the Morgan family lived in the area for more than two hundred years. The borough is situated on the southern bank of the Raritan River, near Raritan Bay, in Middlesex County, New Jersey. Sayreville is bordered on the south and southwest by Old Bridge Township.
