Stow Creek Township was originally formed as one of six precincts making up Cumberland County in 1748, and was incorporated as a township in 1798. At some point, the spelling of the name of the township was changed to “Stoe,” as it was officially changed back to “Stow” in 1924. Stow Creek Township is bordered by Hopewell Township, Shiloh, Greenwich Township, Salem County, and the Delaware Bay. Stow Creek is a dry town, where alcohol cannot be sold. As Stow Creek does not have a post office, mail to areas within the township are addressed to Bridgeton.
