A borough within Monmouth County, New Jersey. Originally formed as New Shrewsbury on August 15, 1950, it was renamed to Tinton Falls to prevent postal errors. The name is derived from Tinton Manor, a plantation that employed free white workers and slaves owned by Lewis Morris. It is also home to the highest waterfall on the state's coastal plain.
