Located in Monmouth County, New Jersey, Wall Township was named for General Garret D. Wall. Allaire Village, now a living history museum in Wall, was originally established as a bog iron furnace, which the company’s owner, James P. Allaire, attempted to turn into a self-contained community. Wall Township was formed in 1851 from parts of Howell Township. Neighborhoods or unincorporated communities within the township include Allaire, Allenwood, Glendola, Old Mill, and West Belmar. Wreck Pond is a tidal pond on the Atlantic Coast, surrounded by Wall Township, as well as the boroughs of Spring Lake, Lake Heights, and Sea Girt.
