The borough of Woodcliff Lake, in Bergen County, New Jersey, was initially incorporated as Woodcliff in 1894. Its name was changed to Woodcliff Lake after the reservoir with that name was created in 1910. Woodcliff Lake was the world headquarters of Ingersoll Rand until they moved in 2004, after which its properties were taken over by the North American headquarters of BMW. The borough borders Hillsdale, Montvale, Park Ridge, Saddle River, and small parts of Upper Saddle River and River Vale. Today, the borough is largely a suburb of New York City.
