The city of Bloomfield, New Mexico is in San Juan County, in the Four Corners Region. The community received its first post office in 1879, although the community was then known as Porter. In 1881, its name was changed to Bloomfield. In 1955, Bloomfield was incorporated as a village, becoming a city in 1966. Bloomfield is east of Farmington and south of Aztec.
