Farmington, New York is situated in Ontario County. It was founded in 1789, and many of the first settlers were Quakers from Berkshire County in Massachusetts. The town is named in honor of Farmington, Connecticut. In 1824, one of the settlers, Arthur Power, left with a small group of Quakers and founded Farmington, Michigan.
