Badin, North Carolina is a town in Stanly County. The community has its origins in 1913, when a French company began work on a dam at the narrows of the Yadkin River, which becomes the Pee Dee River a few miles downstream, and a town grew up to house the workers, although it wasn’t incorporated until 1990. The town was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983, even before its incorporation.
