Founded in 1759 and originally chartered in 1838, Bethania is the oldest town in Forsyth County, North Carolina. Bethania was the first planned Moravian settlement in the state, and continues as the only existing, independent, and continuously active Moravian village in the southern United States. Bethania is northwest of Winston-Salem, and southeast of Mount Airy.
