A suburb of Raleigh, to its north and to its east, Cary is located in the North Carolina counties of Wake and Chatham. The town's roots go back to a 1750 settlement known as Bradford's Ordinary, a village that remained very small for a century, until the North Carolina Railroad placed it on a major transportation route.
