Emerald Isle is a town in Carteret County, North Carolina, and part of the Crystal Coast. Situated entirely on the Bogue Banks, the community is a vacation spot, although there are no oceanfront hotels. The area was largely uninhabited until the early 1950s, when a group of seven investors bought the thirteen miles of island that make up the townsite. Emerald Isle is west of Indian Beach and Pine Knoll Shores.
