The central North Carolina town of Lexington is located about twenty miles south of Winston-Salem, and serves as the county seat of Davidson County. The area was sparsely settled in 1775, and named for Lexington, Massachusetts, the site of the first skirmish of the Revolutionary War, although it was not incorporated as a city until 1828.
