Yanceyville is the seat of Caswell County, North Carolina. Although Yanceyville was not incorporated until 1833, as Caswell Court House, the settlement has been the county seat since 1793. Although there is disagreement as to just which Yancey the town was named for, the Yancey family was prominent in the area for a long time. Yanceyville is south of Danville, west of Leasburg and Roxboro, and immediately adjacent to West Yanceyville.
