Kulm, North Dakota is in LaMoure County. The community was established in 1892 on the northwest quarter of Section 26, Township 133, Range 66, on land that had formerly been part of Wesley Organ’s homestead, and named for both Kulm, Bessarabia, South Russia, and for Kulm, Germany, as its early settlers came from both places. The city was located along the railroad, between Fredonia, to the west, and Merricourt, to the southeast.
