Located in Sheridan County, North Dakota, McClusky is the county seat. The community was founded in 1905 by German and Norwegian settlers. Low rainfall in the area made farming difficult until the McClusky Canal was completed in 1976, bringing irrigation water from Lake Audobon. The Red River Valley and Western Railroad, which ran to McClusky and further west, was abandoned in 2000. McClusky is located along Route 200, between Pickardville and Denhoff.
