Ray is a city in Williams County, in northwestern North Dakota, about one hour from Canada and an hour from Montana. Founded in 1902, early settlers in Ray generally came from towns located along the railroad lines in northeastern North Dakota. As the area was settled, Ray became the supplier and service center for settlers, ranchers and hired hands.
