The village of Bellville, Ohio, is in Richland County. It was originally settled after James McCluer and Jonathan Oldfield blazed a trail to Bellville from Fredericktown and built the first cabin there. The township flourished after the B&O Railroad came through town. It was incorporated in 1841.
