Carlisle, Ohio is a village in Warren and Montgomery counties. At the turn of the 18th century, settlers began settling in an area of land west of the Miami Valley River. The growing community became known as the Jersey Settlement, since many of the early settlers had come from New Jersey. In the mid 18th century, George B. Carlisle, a prominent railroad man, bought and platted a large section of the community, which was later named for him. Carlisle was incorporated in 1958.
