Girard, Ohio is a city in Trumbull County. The community was settled in 1802 by Hieronimus Eckman, a gunsmith, who moved to the area with his children. A post office was established in Girard in 1836, which is when the community became identifiable as a village, although it was not chartered until 1891, becoming a city in 1921.
