Lockland is a village in Hamilton County, in southwestern Ohio. The community is said to have gotten its name from the first set of lock gates that would be encountered by anyone traveling north on the Miami and Erie Canal, which served as a transportation route linking New York City with New Orleans, and remained operational until 1929. Plotten in 1828, the village was not incorporated until 1999.
