Miamisburg, in Montgomery County, was known as "Hole's Station" since 1797, when Zachariah Hole settled there and built a stockade. The city's current name was derived from the Miami Indian tribe that resided there, a combination of the name of the tribe and the word that denotes a borough or town. A popular local tourist attraction is Indian Mound, which once served as an Indian burial site.
