Moreland Hills is a village in Cuyahoga County, Ohio. The community’s settlement began in 1815, near the point where State Route 87 now crosses the Chagrin River. Orange Township was established in 1820, and the village remained a part of the township until it incorporated as a village in 1929. James A. Garfield, the 20th President of the United States, was born in the community in 1831, while it was still part of Orange Township.
