Orrville is a city in Wayne County, Ohio. The community was settled around 1814, when Revolutionary War veteran, James Taggart, Jr., came to stake out the claim that was due him for his service during the war. He selected a 160 acres in what is now Orrville, and his sons, Samuel and Robert Taggart, came to settle on the claim. The town was platted by Judge Smith Orr, who persuaded the railroad to locate a water tower there. Orrville was incorporated as a village in 1864, becoming a city in 1950.
