Owensville, Ohio is a village in Clermont County. The town was built on a 441-acre land grant held by Dr. Richard Allison, the first Surgeon General of the United States, and was originally known as Allisonia, as Dr. Allison lived there from 1799 until his death in 1816. The village of Owensville was named Boston when it was laid out in 1836, although its name was later changed to Owensville, after William Owens, who operated a couple of stores there.
