Proctorville, Ohio is a village in Lawrence County. The community is located across the Ohio River from Huntington, West Virginia, with the East End Bridge connecting the two communities. When Proctorville was originally settled in 1797, it was known as Quaker Bottom. Jacob Proctor opened a store there in 1834, and the community became known as Proctor’s Landing. When the village was incorporated in 1878, its name was changed to Proctorville, in Jacob’s honor.
