South Euclid, Ohio is a suburb of Cleveland, and is bordered by Cleveland, Cleveland Heights, University Heights, Beachwood, Lyndhurst, Richmond Heights, and Euclid. The area was once part of the Connecticut Western Reserve. In 1797, Moses Cleaveland named the area east of the Cuyahoga River Euclid, and Euclid Township was formed in 1809. In 1828, the township was divided into nine districts, including South Euclid. Incorporated as a village in 1917, South Euclid became a city in 1941.
