The small town of Beggs is situated along State Highway 16, thirty-one miles south of Tulsa, in northwestern Okmulgee County, Oklahoma. The town was named after C.H. Beggs, vice president of the St. Louis and San Francisco Railway, who chose the town site to build a depot and stock pen, although the first business to serve the new settlement was a saloon. Beggs was incorporated in 1900.
