Situated in eastern Oklahoma County, the Oklahoma town of Jones City was originally known as Glaze. No major highways pass through Jones, which is about four miles south of Interstate 44. The city was incorporated in 1909.

Jones Oklahoma Historical Society
The present site of Jones was home to numerous Plains Indian tribes, and was later reserved for the Kickapoo Nation, who still have a reservation in the area. The Historical Society collects, manages and makes available to the public a collection of artifacts, photographs and other materials which speak to the history of the area before and affter its settlement.
