Situated in eastern Oklahoma County, the Oklahoma town of Jones City was originally known as Glaze. No major highways pass through Jones, which is about four miles south of Interstate 44. The city was incorporated in 1909.

The present site of Jones was home to numerous Plains Indian tribes, and was later reserved for the Kickapoo Nation, who still have a reservation in the area.
