Konawa, Oklahoma is located in southwestern Seminole County. The town got its start in 1904, when Tom West, a mixed-blood Seminole, sold George Northrup a plot of land that became the Konawa townsite. Its post office was established that same year, and was populated, in large part, by people and businesses from nearby Violet Springs, after the railroad bypassed that community.
