Purcell is a city within McClain County, Oklahoma. It is also the county seat of the county and a part of the Oklahoma City Metropolitan Area. The city was founded as a railroad town and was named after Edward Benton (E.B.) Purcell, an Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad director.
