Founded in 1895, on land that was once part of the Pawnee Reservation, the town of Yale, Oklahoma was originally about a mile and a half east of the current townsite, having moved to be nearer to the railroad. The town grew up around a store and post office established by Sterling F. Underwood, who also moved his buildings to the new location in 1900. Yale is in Payne County, Oklahoma.
