Situated on the Pacific Northwest coast of Oregon, the City of Cannon Beach is surrounded by forests, ocean beaches and rivers. Visited in 1806 by Captain William Clark of the Lewis & Clark Expedition, and settled in the late 1800s, the city wasn't incorporated until 1957. The community was originally known as Ecola, but was changed on request of the Post Office because its name was confused with Eola, another Oregon community.
