Coos Bay is a city in Coos County, Oregon, situated at the point where the Coos River enters Coos Bay on the Pacific Ocean. The area has been settled since 1853, although the community was initially known as Marshfield, which was incorporated in 1874. Its name was changed to Coos Bay in 1944.
