Damascus, Oregon developed along the Foster-Barlow Road, an extension of the Oregon Trail. Edward Pedigo, who settled in Damascus in 1854, suggested the name for the community, which was a reference to the Apostle Paul's conversion experience on the Damascus Road. Located in Clackamas County, the town was incorporated as a city in 2004.
