Incorporated in 1895, Dundee is a city in Yamhill County, Oregon, named for the birthplace of William Reid, who came to the area from Dundee, Scotland in 1874 to establish the Oregonian Railway. The first post office in the area was known as Elkins, which was established in 1881. The Elkins post office closed in 1885, and a new one was opened in 1887, known as Dundee Junction, which was later shortened to Dundee.
