Grants Pass is the seat of Josephine County in Oregon, named in honor of General Ulysses S. Grant's success at Vicksburg. Its post office was established in 1865, and the city was incorporated in 1887. The city is probably best known for attractions that include the Rogue River and the nearby Oregon Caves National Monument, the former being famous for its rafting.
