Hillsboro is the fifth-largest city in Oregon, and the seat of Washington County. Founded by David Hill, Isaiah Kelsey, and Richard Williams, who arrived in 1841, the town was initially known by two other names, East Tualatin Plains and Columbia, before it was named Hillsborough in 1850, for David Hill, one of its founders. Its name was later shortened to Hillsboro. Located in the Tualatin Valley, the city is home to several high-tech companies, and is sometimes known as the Silicon Forest.
