Lake Oswego is located primarily in Clackamas County, although portions of the city are in Multnomah and Washington counties. Lake Oswego was founded in 1847 and incorporated as Oswego in 1910, and renamed Lake Oswego in 1960. The city is located between the Williamette River and the Tualatin River. The Lake itself is a private lake, which is an expansion of an earlier natural light known as Waluga by the Clackamas Indians, managed by the Lake Oswego Corporation.
