Established as a seaside resort in 1909 by the Rockaway Beach Company, and named for the Rockaway Beach on Long Island in New York, the community's post office began operation in 1911, and was incorporated in 1943. The city's name was changed to Rockaway Beach in 1987. Rockaway Beach is located in Tillamook County, Oregon.
