The city of Seaside, Oregon, is located in Clatsop County. The name of the city is taken from the historic summer resort "Seaside House," which was built in the 1870s by railroad magnate Ben Holladay. It was settled in 1806 when a salt-making cairn was built by members of the Lewis and Clark Expedition, and it was incorporated as a town in 1899.
