Sublimity, Oregon is in Marion County. Incorporated in 1903, it was settled in 1852 with a post office and trading post. It got its name because the settlers believed that the panoramic views of the hills and scenery were sublime and should be acknowledged as such. It was a bustling town when the War Between the States broke out, and most people went back to their homes while the war was in progress. It was resettled in the late 1860s by German immigrants who settled on farms.
