Named for Daniel Knight Warren, an early settler, Warrenton is a city in Clatsop County, Oregon. The first settlement there was known as Lexington, which was laid out in 1848, and served as the county seat. Its name was changed to Skipanon, which is still the name of the river that flows through town. Warrenton itself was platted in 1889, and incorporated that same year.
