Yachats is a coastal city in Lincoln County, Oregon. Archeological studies suggest that the Yachats area has been inhabited for at least 1,500 years. In the early 1860s, the U.S. Army established an Indian Reservation there, then forced the Native Americans to move again in 1875, in order to open the area for homesteading. The settlement was known by white settlers as Oceanview until it was renamed Yachats in 1917.
